An exploration of our climate crisis
19 Aug - 30 Sep 2020
Singapore Sustainability Gallery
In a landmark year for awareness on climate issues, Eco-Business has launched Changing Course 2019: An exploration of our climate crisis at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
The multimedia exhibition is the centrepiece of the museum’s month-long Climate: SOS – Season of Sustainability, a series of events and programmes focusing on the impact of climate change on oceanic environments.
It is open to public for free from Saturday, 5 October to Sunday, 3 November 2019.
Produced by Eco-Business — Asia Pacific's leading media organisation dedicated to sustainable development — and supported by a diverse range of partners from government, business and civil society, the exhibition showcases the sights, sounds and stories of landscapes and communities at the frontlines of climate change – from the melting Arctic to droughts in Chennai, and the impact of rising temperatures in Asia’s cities, including Singapore.
These are captured in a series of photographic prints, a 360° video experience and a new original short documentary Arctic Awakening, shot on location in the Arctic and Singapore.
Changing Course 2019 raises awareness of the need to urgently respond to our climate crisis and inspires action to address it. It explores humanity’s relationship with our planet, outlines the challenges in our current global patterns of consumption and production, and provokes answers to this one central question:
How can we change the course of humanity?
The exhibition is part of Eco-Business and EB Impact’s flagship climate change initiative Changing Course, and is organised in support of Singapore’s Year Towards Zero Waste and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
To encourage visitors to contribute towards restoring our planet, EB Impact also launched a new campaign to raise US$10,000 to plant 10,000 trees in four countries in Asia: India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Visitors can do so by scanning a QR code at the exhibition itself or by visiting Reforesting Asia to donate.
Each dollar will allow partner One Tree Planted to put one tree in the ground. EB Impact is the sister non-profit organisation of Eco-Business dedicated to programmes that generate positive sustainable development impact.
Visit the exhibition today at the ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands Singapore, Level 4. 10am to 7pm daily.
What a melting Arctic means for Asia
Changing Course is a flagship climate change initiative by Eco-Business and its partners that tells the global climate story through an Asian lens to inspire action.
At its heart is the belief in the power of media to effect change and shift the course of history.
The campaign was first launched in February 2018 at the start of the ClimateForce: Antarctica expedition led by Sir Robert Swan, a renowned British environmentalist and explorer who was the first man to walk to both the North and South Poles.
From this expedition, we produced a short documentary, 网页加速器, which raises awareness about the global climate crisis in the world's fastest-growing region and the urgent need to shift to more sustainable ways of living.
Rapid collapse of the Antarctic glaciers and the melting of Arctic ice sheets — brought about by climate change — could flood coastal cities by the end of this century.
The collapse of these giant ice masses will spell disaster for humanity. Higher tides will bury every shoreline across the globe, flooding coastal cities heavily concentrated in Asia, and this could create hundreds of millions of climate refugees.
Climatic changes are also threatening our ecosystems, triggering tipping points that could send the Earth's natural cycles in a spiral, upsetting the balance and causing changes in crop yields, weather patterns, and accelerating biodiversity loss.
This change could happen at a rate too quick for the human race to adapt — and this is why we need to act urgently.
pixiv用什么加速器 is an immersive documentary project chronicling climate stories and a platform for exhibitions, competitions, and events that engage a wide spectrum of society to deepen their knowledge of humanity's greatest challenge and how to respond to it.
